Petition against the proposal to move Chesterton Out of Hours Service to Addenbrookes
This petition was started by Elisa Meschini and Kelley Green to oppose the plans to close the Chesterton Our of Hours Service at Chesterton Medical Centre and relocate it to Addenbrookes.
At a time when our local GP services are under intense pressure, people needing out of hours care in the north of the City may now face long journeys to somewhere on the large Addenbrookes site on the other side of the City. We are very concerned about the impact of this proposed change on the health care and needs of residents in some of the most deprived wards in Cambridge, like East Chesterton, Arbury and Kings Hedges.
It is being supported by many councillors across the north of the City including East Chesterton councillor and former Mayor of Cambridge, Councillor Gerri Bird, and West Chesterton's County Councillor, Jocelynne Scutt.
Please sign and help us to keep this vital service at Chesterton Medical Centre. The paper petition is also available here.
We call on Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group to retain the Out of Hours Urgent Care at Chesterton Medical Centre, Union Lane. Relocating the service to Addenbrooke’s will seriously affect the health and access to care for people in some of the most deprived wards in Cambridge who often don’t have access to affordable transport.
