West Chesterton is in the middle of a planning application frenzy — or so it seems. This is against the background of the City Council Local Plan being subject to independent examination by the inspector on behalf of the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. We believe residents want positive development that complements West Chesterton, adding vibrancy and life.
We therefore need to ensure designation of part of the ward as an Opportunity Area doesn’t result in developers trying to by-pass the Local Plan by rushing through applications.

Please let us know if you have concerns so that we can take them on board when discussing proposals with developers and planners.
We are keen that West Chesterton’s developments meet local needs particularly focusing on affordable housing and ensuring local businesses, including Guest Houses, do not suffer and the revamping of Mitcham’s Corner goes ahead as residents wish.
