Local buses for local people

Clare King, Labour's candidate for the City Council election in May, lives just off Milton Road. She is fed up with Park & Ride and Guided buses sailing past while she waits for a bus into town.Bus_campaign_arbury_road.jpg

Clare said: "If we want to encourage residents to use buses rather than cars, we need to have more of them stopping on Milton Road. It's frustrating to see empty buses sailing past  people waiting at bus stops.

I've launched a petition asking the County Council, Stagecoach and Whippet to trial more buses stopping, even if just after the morning rush hour.

County Councillor Elisa Meschini said: "Daniel Zeichner fought to get the Bus Services Act through last year. We must  use it to franchise better services for Cambridge residents.

In the meantime we need more buses stopping on Milton Road for people who live here to use. I hope this petition can help make a real difference now so we don't have to wait years for a better service. “

We call on Cambridgeshire County Council, Stagecoach, Whippet and the Greater Cambridge Partnership to provide buses on Milton Road that serve the local community and not just Park & Ride and Guided buses which rarely stop.
