I started Cambridge Farmers Outlet on Lensfield Road, with my partner Jona, in 2008.
The idea began before that, when I had a regular weekend pitch at the Farmers Market in Ely and St Ives, selling home-made sloe gin. The family farm is in Willingham where I grew up and Jona works at Addenbrookes, so this move made sense for us.
Retail is a lot of work but it combines my passion for meeting people, being part of the vibrant Cambridge community and my love of good local food and gardening.
Like all small businesses, we struggle to compete with the supermarkets (popping up all over the place) but we have captured sales from the internet and kept one step ahead.
I trade with the local farmers I met back in the Farmers Markets, and we share the profits of the Cambridge Farmers Outlet.
